Quince paste is called Membrillo in Spanish. The word membrillo derives from Latin melimelum, which means honey apple and refers to quince or a preserve made of quince. The quince is oval, with green-yellowish skin, similar to the pear and the apple.

Quince paste is a traditional Spanish delicacy since medieval times. Bonvallis Quince Paste is made following ancient recipe without any preservatives with the aromatic pulp of quince a touch of lemon and sugar.

The consistency of the jam is quite thick, so it is typically served sliced on a small wedge of a Spanish cheese such as a Manchego, Mahón, Cabrales, Oveja or Cabra al Romero (sheep or goat cheese with rosemary) for dessert. It is an easy, tasty and pretty bite. The sweet, slightly tart taste is nicely complimented by the mild, salty flavour of the cheese. The membrillo can also be used on bread and in pastries.
